SPILLERS® sales team walk 50km for charity

Brave members of the SPILLERS® sales team put their best feet forward for the arduous Thames Path 50km Challenge last month. They pushed past the pain barrier of numerous foot blisters to raise more than £1000 for Redwings Horse Sanctuary and Cancer Research UK.

Alexandra Ashley, Vanessa Macdonald, Nicki Grennan, Laura Meszaros, Rebecca Spencer and James Cassells, who work for Mars Horsecare UK’s SPILLERS® brand, walked from Putney Bridge, London to Runnymede in 11 hours, as a part of this popular challenge.

SPILLERS® Professional Sales Manager Alexandra Ashley said: “It was quite a challenge as most of us hadn’t done anything like this before. We unavoidably slowed down for the last 10km when our legs didn’t want to move anymore and our feet were covered in blisters but we all managed to complete the walk!”

The team’s target is to raise £1,500 for Redwings and Cancer Research UK. Alexandra continued: “So far we have raised just over £1,000 through sponsorship, raffling Mars Hampers of products kindly donated by other Mars brands and selling cakes. We are confident we will achieve our target by the time the rest of the sponsorship money is collected.”

The Thames path Challenge is run over two days. Participants can walk, jog or run 25km, 50km or 100km along the Thames footpath. The event has raised £2million for charity this year.
